Just outside Chostia, on the road to Sarandi, we come across the Monastery of the Holy Archangels. It was built among other monasteries on the southern side of Mount Helicon, which ends on the shores of the Corinthian Gulf and near the walls of the ancient Boeotian city of the Corsians.

The church consists of the sanctuary, the nave and the narthex. Later on, a protective exonarthex was built, of which today only the foundations are preserved. On the internal west side of the main church and above the main entrance the inscription has been preserved, informing us that this church was built in the name of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel.
According to the tradition, the monastery was built in the 12th century. The original church was destroyed in 1776 and in its place the current one was built in the architectural style of a cross-in-square domed church.
The Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Hieronymos, initiated a major effort for the restoration and maintenance of the monastery.
