For the second year, the championship race established by the EL.L.A.D.A. Association in the old special stages of Acropolis Rally, the Evian Gulf and Viotia, this year renamed to Evia Rally, promises an exciting experience: starting from the square of Thiva and running an evening Power Stage in the streets of the city!
In fact, the Power Stage will be held twice. On Saturday evening, October 5th, immediately after the celebratory ceremony of the start – in the central square – as well as on Sunday afternoon, after the triple repetition of the historic Special Routes “Loukissia” and “Platanaki”, which make up the core of the race.
The starting point of the Power Stage will be in the courtyard of the impressive Archaeological Museum of the city. The competitors will then race 4.8 kilometres to the finish of the stage, in the neighbouring village Ampelochori, and from there they will return to Parc Ferme, in Thiva.
Thiva has one of the most important Archaeological Museums in Greece, with unique collections and numerous findings from various historical periods. One of its features is the medieval tower of Saint Omer, located in the courtyard of the Museum (see more at the link: https://www.mthv.gr/).
The three loops of the two Special Routes “Loukissia” and “Platanaki” from the morning until the afternoon of Sunday will challenge the participants with 63 highly technical kilometres – as these will be added to the 9.6 kilometres of the two loops of the Power Stage.
Soon after the Power Stage on Sunday 6/10, the finishing ceremony will take place at the ramp, which will also be placed in the courtyard of the Museum, and the awarding of the prizes to the winners, at the same place. Thiva will host all facilities of the organizing committee of the Greek Car Club of West Attica, meaning that the race secretariat, the Service Park and the Parc Ferme will be located there.
The major sponsor of Evia Rally 2019 is “Texaco Tsellos”, in Thiva. The Municipality of Thiva and the Community of Thiva, the Municipality of Chalkida and the Regional Unit of Viotia and Evia of the Region of Central Greece, complement its support with their valuable assistance. In addition, the assistance of the Municipal Organization of Thiva and the Municipal Organization of Sports, Culture & Environment of Chalkida was crucial, while the Police Directorate of Thiva and Chalkida greatly facilitated the efforts of the event organizing.
The registration procedure is underway through OMAE’s Online Games Management System (www.e-omae-epa.gr) and will be completed by midnight on Friday 30 September.
It should be noted, regarding the historic racing cars, that although the race is not considered to be part of the National Historic Rally Championship, the competitors of historic cars who would like to participate in Evia Rally 2019 will have separate ranking, and will be awarded appropriate prizes, as provided by the Regulations.
Thanks to the generous hospitality of Thiva and the wider region, EL.L.A.D.A. Association trusts that the Evia Rally 2019, apart from the racing spectacle that the crews are expected to offer, will be a major celebration that will contribute to the development of both the local communities and the Panhellenic Rally Championship.
