Culinary delights

Thiva, being in the heart of Greece, seems oddly not to have any particular local recipe of its own, precisely because it was not isolated. Its delicate cuisine has been spread since antiquity, along with its wine, contributing to the overall culinary tradition of the country.

Of course, Thiva is a crossroads of important traditions, a place that echoes strong memories of the Asia Minor people, the Sarakatsans, the Arvanites, the Pontians and all the groups of populations that have contributed to the mixture of the region from time to time.

The cuisine of Thiva is expressed with strong flavours such as fine meats – the custom of the pork roast in August is a feast for the senses. The region of the Municipality of Thiva is primarily rural. It produces excellent quality products such as fruit and vegetables, bee products, olive oil and dairy products, which visitors can purchase from various shops.
